How do I use washing soda?
We hear this question all the time. There are so many uses for washing soda from laundry to degreasing. But before we get to that, what is washing soda anyway?
Also known as soda ash or sodium carbonate, washing soda is a natural mineral used to boost your laundry detergents efficacy, remove stains and soften water. It is made from the ashes of burning plants or by heating baking soda at a high temperature.
Here are a few ideas for using washing soda:
Add a 1/2 cup to your regular laundry load for added cleaning and freshening power or add a full cup for heavily soiled or to soften hard water in your laundry.
Dissolve 1/2 cup to a gallon of water to scrub sinks, toilets, tubs and tile. Rinse well.
Degrease and remove burned stains from pots by sprinkling onto a damp sponge and scrubbing.
Clean oils stains on your garage floor by sprinkling over stain. Add a little water to form a paste and leave overnight. Scrub and hose down in the morning.
